Coffee Description
This coffee launches with brown sugar and red rose aromas. Next come flavors of milk chocolate, purple grapes, and sweet ripened stone fruits. Creamy in body with vibrant acidity, the cup finishes with gentle florals and undergirding plum notes.

About Christian Fuentes, Almicar Jativa, and Servio Nicolas Montenegro Tobar of Ecuador
This lot is a single-variety blend from three different farms; Christian Fuentes owns Divino Niño, Almicar Jativa has La Magdalena, and Servio Nicolas Montenegro Tobar owns Santiago Del Rey. These three young men have formed a coalition of independent producers, working directly with Caravela Coffee Importers.
This direct trade relationship ensures a higher quality coffee by keeping the lots small, not blended into large, multi-farm lots. It also returns a higher purchase price for the farmers who don’t have to pay association fees. This coffee from Peñaherrera is an excellent example of the great potential of specialty coffee from Ecuador.

PT's Coffee Roasting Co.
Topeka Kansas, 1993: an unlikely place and time for one of the most groundbreaking Direct Trade coffee companies in the world to be founded, but that's just what Fred Polzin and Jeff Taylor did. PT's Coffee Roasting Co.'s slogan is, "Without the love, it's just coffee.", and they certainly live up to it. (In fact, Jeff married a Colombian coffee pro, Maritza, now Director of Quality Control for PT's).
PT's Coffee Roasting Co. has won many awards, including Roast Magazine's 2009 "Roaster of the Year" and a 2012 Good Food Award medal. Building on a history so solid, PT's is pushing into the future of the coffee industry with promise and momentum.
