Coffee Description
This coffee has all of the tropical flavors beloved in coffees from Kenya, featuring a caramelized sugar sweetness and a balanced tart, slightly sparkling acidity. Tangy fruits up front dive into a syrupy middle, and the finish is clean with a lingering pineapple ring candy sparkle.

About Smallholder producers of Kenya
This lot is directly sourced from smallholder farmers belonging to the Tambaya wet mill. Tambaya, located in the Mukurwe-ini area of Nyeri county, is part of Rumukia farmers Cooperative society, and the mill derives its name from an indigenous tree common in the area during pre-colonial times, the Mutambaya.
920 small holders make up the membership of Tambaya. The majority of them have an average of 175 coffee trees, and each tree produces about 6 pounds of coffee cherries. Though that doesn’t seem like very much, coffee is the main source of revenue for these farmers. With their earnings they are able to provide education for their children, pay for their health and medical needs, and develop infrastructure including building homes.

Dapper & Wise
In 2013, Insomnia's owners Evan Aldrete and Tyler Geel launched Dapper & Wise as a tasting room and roasting facility in Portland's Western suburbs, and by 2014, as a wholesaler as well.
Based out of Hillsboro, Oregon, Evan and Tyler work with a stellar team, all of whom are dedicated to the values that undergird Dapper & Wise: “We want people to walk through our doors and feel welcome. We want people to taste our coffee and be impressed and inspired. We want the coffee we roast to exemplify the hard work of the producers that grow it.”
