About José David Garrido Pérez of Panama
The year: 1997. The place: Alto Quiel, near Boquete, Panama. With a passion for farming, a commitment to quality, and a love of coffee and people, José Pérez founded Mama Cata Estate. Before long, his farming know-how and attention to detail paid off, and he began producing outstanding, unique coffees from his land.
Enter Pt’s Coffee Roaster Co. owner, Jeff Taylor, 2016. Jeff was a judge at the Best of Panama competition and a Geisha coffee from Mama Cata caught his attention when it earned the second highest score in the Geisha category. As a result, Pt’s became direct trade partners with José David. Because of this new union, José’s Geisha blend--never before offered to any roaster in the USA--is on its way to cover lovers stateside: Finca Mama Cata, Lot Toña A.

PT's Coffee Roasting Co.
Topeka Kansas, 1993: an unlikely place and time for one of the most groundbreaking Direct Trade coffee companies in the world to be founded, but that's just what Fred Polzin and Jeff Taylor did. (In fact, Jeff married a Colombian coffee pro, Maritza, now Director of Quality Control for PT's).
PT's Coffee Roasting Co. has won many awards, including Roast Magazine's 2009 "Roaster of the Year" and a 2012 Good Food Award medal. Building on a history so solid, PT's is pushing into the future of the coffee industry with promise and momentum.
