Coffee Description
This on-the-wild-side natural-processed coffee symphony launches with aromas of milk chocolate, strawberry, and pineapple. Flavors of black cherry and port lead into a lingering notes of fudge and cinnamon, while juicy, almost syrupy body and ripe pineapple acidity crescendo in the finish.

About Edith Meza of Peru
Edith Meza was born in the mountains of rural Peru. As a teenager she moved to the coffee-growing Satipo Llaylla province of Chanchamaya, to be close to her mother’s family. When they settled, her mother planted a couple hectares of coffee. Sadly, her mother didn’t live to see those trees begin to produce. But Edith and her younger brother, Ivan, decided to follow that dream. Edith studied farm management and quality control, earning a diploma in exportation.. She says, “I’m completely in love with this product, because you learn every day.”
In 2012, she joined the National Coffee Board and worked behind the scenes at the national specialty coffee competition, learning from renowned Peruvian and international cuppers and buyers. PT’s co-founder (and then-green coffee buyer) Jeff Taylor met Edith there, the same year she trained and performed as a sensory judge during the National Barista Championship. The Mezas are the first coffee farmers in the region to provide benefits to their employees and are working to educate other farmers in the region about sustainable farming practices.

PT's Coffee Roasting Co.
Topeka Kansas, 1993: an unlikely place and time for one of the most groundbreaking Direct Trade coffee companies in the world to be founded, but that's just what Fred Polzin and Jeff Taylor did. PT's Coffee Roasting Co.'s slogan is, "Without the love, it's just coffee.", and they certainly live up to it. (In fact, Jeff married a Colombian coffee pro, Maritza, now Director of Quality Control for PT's).
PT's Coffee Roasting Co. has won many awards, including Roast Magazine's 2009 "Roaster of the Year" and a 2012 Good Food Award medal. Building on a history so solid, PT's is pushing into the future of the coffee industry with promise and momentum.
