About Luis "Wicho" Valdes of Guatemala
Located near the town of San Cristóbal Verapaz in Cobán, Guatemala, Finca Santa Isabel is a 300 hectare farm situated at high elevation in the Chamá Mountains, but comprised of relatively level topography for the region. The Valdés family have been stewards of this land as far back at 1875, with Santa Isabel as it stands today in operation since 1965. Luis and his son - also named Luis (nicknamed ‘Wicho’) - manage the farm as general and agricultural manager, respectively. Luis IV, Wicho’s son, is already learning the ropes and spends his school holidays at the farm just like his father did when he was young.
