About Smallholder producers of Kenya
Nestled in the foothills of towering Mount Kenya in the Aberdare mountains, we find the Karogoto Factory, a washing station belonging to the members of the Tekangu Farmers Cooperative Society (TFCS). The name Tekangu combines their 3 factories, Tegu, Karogoto, and Ngunguru.
TFCS has approximately 3,161 members, 76 of whom have taken courses at the Coffee Research Foundation Training School. Here they study agricultural methods in general and coffee farming in particular including quality processing of coffee and bookkeeping skills. This educational advantage has sparked a 64% increase in production, bringing larger incomes and greater quality of life for farmers and their families.

Case Coffee Roasters
At the ripe old age of 21, high school sweethearts Tim and Kati Case married in January, 2006, and promptly opened Case Coffee Roasters in Ashland, Oregon. Winners of the 2013 and 2015 Good Food Awards and a finalist in 2016, Tim and Kati’s mission is to source the world’s most sweet, clean, and complex coffees. They are dedicated to making great coffee selections and offering good prices to the farmers, often paying two to three times Fair Trade prices.
When they’re not living and breathing coffee, you might find Tim and Kati exploring the Pacific Northwest with their six-year-old son, Yonnie: surfing, snowboarding, fly fishing, hiking, and mountain biking.
