Grown on Mount Kilimanjaro, shade-covered by banana trees, this Tanzanian coffee boasts traditional East African flavors reminiscent of black currants and ripe cherries balanced with notes of brown sugar and mesquite honey. About Mlimani Ngarashi & Uru Shimbwe Farming Co-Ops of Tanzania
Moshi Magic is our first coffee collaboration with the amazing smallholder farmers based in Moshi, a city in northern Tanzania that is known as a gateway to Kilimanjaro national park and Africa's tallest peak. The members of the two collectives that combine forces for these beans own an average of just 1 acre each, which is why they started working as collectives in the early 1980's, allowing them to process enough coffee to sell it across the world to people like us, right here in Austin, TX, and make a living wage doing so.
The Milmani Ngarashi collective, one of the two who worked on this crop, is led by a strong female who goes, colloquially, by Mrs. Mary and she has been working with the co-op since 1992. While only 40 of the 260 co-op members are female, it excites us to know that Mrs. Mary has been able to make a name for herself as a powerful voice within the Kilimanjaro coffee scene.
It also excites us to know that the members of the collective produce coffee with minimum to no use of industrial/chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which is what allows this coffee to be certified organic—an oddly rare certification amongst small lot farmers.

Creature Coffee is a small-batch coffee roaster based in weird ol’ Austin, Texas. Born during the pandemic, they wanted to bring something fun into an otherwise not-so-fun year. Sharing and introducing people to the best cup of coffee they’ve ever had makes them tick. The ah-ha moment is magical and the story behind their flavor trains is what fascinates and excites this passionate collection of coffee geeks the most. So Creature Coffee started with one mission in mind, to source and roast exceptional coffee while staying honest, approachable, and fun! In a non-traditional, Austin Weird kinda way, they live by their slogan - Let’s Be Friends. Whether it’s their partner farmers, baristas, customers, or mother earth, Creature Coffee tries to do the best thing.
