Coffee Description

This coffee launches with a balance of fruity aroma, chocolate and a subdued honeydew melon-like acidity. The mixture of chocolate with carmel and brown sugar untertones make for a very approachable cup. As the coffee cools, the aroma remains very present and a roasty nut flavor starts to emerge in the finish.

About Fernando Figueiredo Heringer of Brazil

Fernando Figueiredo Heringer may have left a career in public service to grow coffee, but he is no newcomer to the craft. It’s in his blood. Fazenda Tres Barres has been in the Heringer family for 60 years, since the days of Fernando’s grandparents, Walter and Alzira. They passed the 2.5 hectare farm down to their son, Wilian, who, along with his wife Glenda, in turn passed it into Fernando’s care in 2013.

Though his parents still work on the farm, Fernando is making his own mark, installing new drying beds and a concrete patio to facilitate the production of the high quality coffees for which he has become known. This particular lot is solely Red Catuai, handpicked (not always the case in Brazil), and meticulously processed.

Mast Coffee Co.

Many coffee roasters start as a cafe and segue into roasting, but the two 23-year-old entrepreneurs who founded Mast Coffee Co. in 2013 had a different vision. Roseville, California (just outside of Sacramento) needed quality coffee, and Mast would provide it. Begun as a wholesale company with a focus on both outstanding coffees and customer service, Mast Coffee Co. quickly grew and will soon be opening a retail café.

Michael Sanchez and Stephen Mentze started Mast Coffee Co. in a garage, but quickly grew to a 3,500 sq. foot facility where they roast during the day and jam at night (both are accomplished drummers). From roasting on a popcorn popper to acquiring a 1989 Probat L12, these dedicated coffee dudes are building a family around great coffee and caring service in Northern California.
