About Oscar Leandro Rivas Puentes of Colombia
Oscar Leandro Rivas Puentes is a producer in the municipality of Aipe, northern Huila. His farm is named Monte Frio which roughly translates to “cold mountain”. Oscar’s farm sits at 1,800 m.a.s.l. and is located within the township of Santa Rita. The proximity of Oscar’s farm to the regional capital Neiva, compared to other producers, allows him to be in close contact with Azahar’s lab and regional team.
Oscar grows coffee of the Caturra and Castillo varieties which he treats to a washed process after harvest. The first step, however, consists of pickers coming into the fields and hand selecting only the ripest cherry. Then, Oscar weighs the cherry and de-pulps it to let the exposed beans ferment for a period of 12 to 24 hours. After the fermentation process, Oscar washes the beans and lets them dry using a mix of techniques. First, he puts the beans inside a mechanical drier for a total of 40 hours, to later finish the drying process on raised beds for an additional 20 days, allowing water to gradually escape the parchment.

Tinker Coffee Co.
When brothers-in-law Steve Hall and Jeff Johnson founded Tinker Coffee Co., they had a simple plan: bring the specialty coffee scene to their own Indianapolis, Indiana backyard. Combining backgrounds in wine and tech (Jeff worked with IBM for 10 years) with a dedication to sourcing fantastic coffees and sharing the excitement with customers, Tinker Coffee was named "Best Coffee in Indiana" by Food & Wine, so their hard work is paying off!
Tinker Coffee was founded in 2014 and roasts coffee for a sweet group of restaurants, cafes, offices, and markets. Jeff admits to preferring Colombian coffees, and Steve, Kenyas.
