This coffee features a blend of our Decaf Colombia Popayan and coffee from the Acquiares estate in Costa Rica, and reminds us of caramel apples, kit kat bars, and candycorn!

About Aquiares Estate / Popayan of Costa Rica
Costa Rica Acquiares: The name Aquiares means βland between riversβ in the Huetar indigenous language, and Aquiares Estate is commonly referred to as βAquiares Coffee and Community.β It is the largest farm in Costa Rica and home to 1,800 people. Although the farm was founded in 1890, Alfonso Robelo is the man responsible for its transformation a century later. Alfonso arrived in Costa Rica in the 1980βs seeking refuge from the civil war in Nicaragua, where he was politically active. When politics soured into violence, he fled the country to keep his family and himself safe after receiving several threats against his life. Once in Costa Rica, Alfonso began building the Aquiares community on the enchanting slopes of the Turrialba volcano, a lush area of forests, rivers, fauna, and bright flora.
Colombia PopayΓ‘n E.A. Decaf: More than 75 producers in these surrounding mountains contribute to this regional blend which is then decaffeinated. Before going to the decaf plant, each producer depulps and washes their coffee after a short submerged fermentation in water. The coffees are dried for 5-7 days on raised beds, depending on the weather conditions. Once fully dried, the parchment coffee is stored until it is ready to be decaffeinated.

In 2013, Insomnia's owners Evan Aldrete and Tyler Geel launched Dapper & Wise as a tasting room and roasting facility in Portland's Western suburbs, and by 2014, as a wholesaler as well.
Based out of Hillsboro, Oregon, Evan and Tyler work with a stellar team, all of whom are dedicated to the values that undergird Dapper & Wise: βWe want people to walk through our doors and feel welcome. We want people to taste our coffee and be impressed and inspired. We want the coffee we roast to exemplify the hard work of the producers that grow it.β
