It’s been way too long since we’ve featured a coffee from Ethiopia. The Sheka comes from a super talented producer and her experience shines beautifully through this sun-dried lot. We taste sweet blueberry, almost like blueberry syrup that lingers with a clean acidity. The body smoothly transitions into an aftertaste that is delicate and dry like orange zest and dark chocolate. If you were missing your Ethiopian coffee fix, the wait is over.

About Heleanna Georgalis & Moplaco Kawo Kamino Farm of Ethiopia

This incredible coffee begins with a long family history in the coffee industry. The farm–Moplaco–was founded in 1972 by Yiannis Georgalis, a third generation coffee producer who moved from Greece to Dire Dawa, Harrar in Ethiopia. After his death, his daughter Heleanna, who had just completed her MBA in Barcelona, moved back to Ethiopia to become the fourth generation of her family in coffee. Her farming and processing methods are the industry’s gold standard and the result is bright, complex coffees like this one.

In addition to bringing great coffee to our community, building relationships is at the core of who we are. We work directly with coffee producers whenever possible and ensure that our coffee sourcing is transparent and beneficial for every person in the supply chain. We love to celebrate our coffee producers as we wouldn’t be here without them. Whether we’re connecting with our regulars who frequent our coffee shop locations and wholesale partners who serve our coffee from their own locations or learning all we can about our amazing coffee producers all around the world, from start to finish, coffee is all about community.
