With no difference to Heirloom varietals grown in their home land, these Ethiopian coffees grown in Panama are everything you would expect. Floral, sweet, delicate and ethereal these are wonderful coffees. Jasmine in aroma, honey sweet and blossoms of citric fruits these coffees are B side players only. Milk will kill everything that make these tea like wonders so beautiful.

About Hacienda La Esmeralda of Panama
With the success of the Gesha plant varietal it seemed only logical to take additional Ethiopian heirloom (landrace) varietals and plant them on their slopes. So in 2007 they began to do exactly that. The Landrace blend is a mix of coffees from this research project. 400 different accessions were planted at the El Velo farm. Since 2007, each year, every varietal is processed and evaluated individually. The results monitored and analyzed in order to find new exceptional coffee plant varietals. After the annual evaluation is complete the best performing accessions are mixed to create the landrace blend.

modcup was born out of a garage in Jersey City in 2013. With nothing more than a 2lb roaster, a push cart and a desire to preach the gospel of freshly roasted coffee curbside.
